Ford Expedition in Nigeria
Few options are as capable as an Expedition for hauling a large family and towing a huge trailer at the same time. The Expedition is available in two body styles: standard and long-wheelbase Max.
It has three rows of seating, plenty of cargo space, and a towing capacity of up to 9300 pounds. A twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine powers the rear wheels or all four wheels with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
A twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine and fast 10-speed automatic transmission power the Expedition, which is available with rear- or all-wheel drive. The V-6 engine produces 375 horsepower in the XLT and Limited variants, but 400 horsepower in the Platinum. The base engine will be no faster than the 400-horsepower variant we tested on the short- and long-wheelbase vehicles.
All Expeditions have an independent rear suspension, which delivers a better ride and handling experience than the live-axle configurations seen on Chevrolet and GMC competitors. While the smooth ride provides comfort to passengers, the driver is penalized for the car's ungainly handling and inaccurate steering feel. For the nicest all-around driving adventure, those who can have the money for the top-of-the-line Expedition owe it to themselves to look out for the 10 Best-winning Mercedes-Benz GLS-class.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
This type of heavy hauler surely does not contribute to the conservation of fossil fuels. The Expedition doesn't live up to Ford's claim that its EcoBoost engine (a twin-turbocharged V-6) is more fuel-efficient than V-8s.
The EPA rates the Expedition's rear-drive variant at 17 mpg city and 24 highway, while the all-wheel-drive version gets 22 highway. On our 200-mile highway fuel-economy route, both the regular-length Expedition and the larger Expedition Max returned 20 mpg. The 420-horsepower Yukon Denali came up short as well, although it matched Ford's real-world results.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The interior of the Ford Expedition features a square dashboard with huge air vents and materials that get better as you go up in trim level. There are 15 cupholders in every Expedition, as well as a power-folding third-row seat.
Multicontour front seats with a massaging function, leather door-trim accents, real wood on the center console, and a steering wheel covered in premium leather were all standard features on our Platinum test vehicle.
While the cabin is aesthetically beautiful, the cabin's cheap-looking plastics are a major flaw and unacceptably expensive. Both Expedition models have roomy cabins and, unlike most competitors, a third row that isn't too uncomfortable for adults.
A three-seat bench is standard in the second row, however, captain's chairs are available as an option. The Expedition and Expedition Max was built to move people and property—lots of people and property—with three rows of seats and two long body designs.
Do you want to get yours?
The Ford Expedition is a workhorse, big, capacious, and practical, but it falls short of more enticing rivals. If this is the vehicle for you, visit Cars45 to secure yours at the lowest possible price.
