GMC Terrain in Nigeria

The GMC Terrain is a crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors under its sub-brand GMC. Just like the Chevy Equinox, it was built on GM's Theta platform. However, it is now built on the Delta platform. It is GMC's smallest vehicle slotted below the Acadia.

In April 2009, the 2010 model debuted at the New York International Auto Show. It was introduced as a replacement for the Pontiac Torrent which ended production after the Pontiac brand was shut down in 2010.

For the 2013 model year, the Terrain introduced the Denali trim. This trim consists of more chrome trim and a slightly improved interior quality. Also, it offers a blind-spot warning, cross-traffic detection, and a power passenger seat as options.

2010 GMC Terrain Review

This vehicle is available in four trim levels which include SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, and SLT-2. Some standard equipment for the SLE-1 includes heated side mirrors, full power accessories, cruise control, air-conditioning, 17-inch alloy wheels.

The SLE-2 trim adds Bluetooth, roof rails, automatic climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels on V6 models. It also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver seat, and an eight-speaker Pioneer sound system.

Every model comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine generating 182 hp and 172 pound-ft of torque. It comes optional on all but on the SLE-1 is a 3.0-liter V6 best for 264 horsepower and 222 lb-feet of torque.

However, both engines come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and FWD. The AWD is optional across the board.

Also, its fuel economy is impressive. A four-cylinder with front-wheel drive combinedly gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 26 mpg. However, AWD reduces these estimates to 20/29/23 mpg.

2015 GMC Terrain Review

The 2015 model comes in SLT, SLE and Denali trim levels. The SLE and SLT trims are further divided into SLT-1 and -2 and SLE-1 and -2.

The ride quality is excellent on all trims. It glides over road imperfections and boasts a hushed cabin at interstate cruising speeds, giving the driver the feel of a larger, more substantial vehicle.

The Denali trim gets special rear shocks to further cushion the ride. However, do not expect sporty handling as comfort is the brand’s primary mission. Similarly, the steering is exceptionally light and not precise.

Although the four-cylinder of this vehicle matches the acceleration times of others in its range, it does not feel as potent. The best choice then is the available 3.6-liter V6 engine. The V6 offers strong performance and smoothly produces its power.

When its rear seats are folded, it offers 63.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity. But when the rear seats are carrying passengers, it offers 31.6 cubic feet of cargo space.

In addition, the front bucket seats are comfortable and the standard sliding rear seat allows you to make good use of the rear-seat legroom or cargo space based on your needs.
