Acura RL in Nigeria

The Acura RL is a mid-size/executive luxury sedan that was produced by Honda's Acura subsidiary for two generations, from 1996 to 2012. The RL was the marque's flagship, succeeding the Acura Legend until it was replaced in 2013 by the RLX. The Legend, RL, and RLX lines have all been derived from the Honda Legend for the Japanese domestic market. "Refined Luxury" is an abbreviation for the model name "RL."

Pros and come of this automaker

Pros

  • Outstanding all-weather handling, a vast list of standard features, a well-designed cabin, a fantastic stereo, and the flawless integration of various complicated technologies.

Cons

  • In a class where V8 oomph is sometimes required, the V6 power is modest, and the steering is a little numb.

The 2007 RL isn't particularly fast or flashy, but it's thoroughly solid and certain in its demeanor and performance. It may go unnoticed, but it's a consistent winner, regardless of what Mother Nature or a decaying road throws at it.

Vehicle overview

The 2007 Acura RL should be one of the world's most interesting luxury cars, based only on the extensive list of innovations crammed into it. After all, this is a car with a "Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive" system that only distributes power to each wheel when that wheel can efficiently use it. When the road calls, the driver can shift the five-speed automatic transmission manually using paddles on the steering wheel.

It has a multi-zone climate management system that blows filtered air, as well as a sophisticated stability mechanism that should keep tectonic plates from moving. It includes front xenon headlamps that highlight the direction the car is going rather than just where it's pointed, as well as a rearview camera that ensures you only reverse over the cat if you want to.

But the one thing the RL isn't is thrilling. The RL's 290-horsepower 3.5-litre SOHC 24-valve V6 is primarily to blame for the lack of thrills. By any measure, this is a pleasant engine that builds power gradually and smoothly, with no discernible transition when the VTEC variable valve timing technology kicks in. It runs in near-complete silence. The RL, on the other hand, weighs just over 2 tons, and 256-pound feet of peak torque isn't going to be able to move that much mass with authority.

Why is it a great buy?

  1. Safety: Antilock disc brakes with a braking assist, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and a stability control system are all standard safety equipment. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives the 2007 RL a five-star rating for rollover resistance, frontal impact, and side-impact safety. In all of the IIHS' offset frontal crash tests, the RL received a "Good" rating (the highest available).
  2. Driving: The 2007 Acura RL isn't fast, but the more you drive it, the better it gets. The SH-AWD system operates invisibly but effectively to preserve traction in the most absurd of situations, and with the stability control activated, it would take a bulldozer to knock the RL off track.
  3. Interior: The interior of the RL is well-appointed, but the heated front seats are rather flat. The perforated leather upholstery, on the other hand, is of excellent quality, and the back seat has plenty of legroom.

Considering the value the RL offers, deciding to purchase one is a great choice. If you have a preferred model in mind, head on to Cars45 and see what they have available.
