Audi 80 in Nigeria

"Is it worth it to spend more money on an Audi, BMW, or Mercedes?" It's a popular question, and many responses are always the same: "sure, but you won't realize why until you take a test drive around the block." The true benefits of ownership become apparent after a long time of ownership. And, of course, there's the used market. This is why, even now, a used Audi 80 is still a good investment.

History

The Audi 80 was the first of the 'slippery-shape' Audis, debuting in 1986 with a smooth, flush form that set it apart from its predecessor. For 1992, the range was significantly upgraded.

This was the first mass-produced car with a fully galvanized steel body, which made it rust-proof. So much so that Audi gave a 10-year bodywork warranty to all new purchasers. Although this isn't much help to used car purchasers today, it does show Audi's confidence in their product.

The upmarket Audi 90 (a classier-looking 80 with 2.0, 2.2, and 2.3-litre engines) was withdrawn when the range was overhauled at the end of 1991. Most 1992 80s came standard with 2.0-litre four-cylinder, 2.3-litre five-cylinder, and 2.8-litre six-cylinder engines, as well as the more expensive 'Quattro' four-wheel-drive system.

Improvements were made to both the bottom and top of the line-up in 1993. The 2.2-liter turbocharged FWD S2 Estate made its debut in January, while a 100bhp 1.6-liter engine was made accessible in both body styles in the autumn. In March 1995, the Audi A4 took the place of the lineup.

What to Look For

It will be worthwhile to spend the extra money to buy from an Audi dealer, but there will be few models available that are new and in high enough shape to justify a spot on a franchised forecourt. You might get lucky and locate a part-exchanged model, but it's mostly used car lots and classified advertisements.

However, you may buy with confidence because the 80 is a dependable vehicle. Just make sure you inspect a vehicle of this age with the usual precautions. Don't be frightened off by the high mileage; the 80 should easily reach the six-figure mark.

On the Road

If all you need is equipment and power, there are several less expensive options. Take a minute to look beyond the spec list and think how you'll feel about your car in ten weeks or ten months before you consider them.

Choose a muddy, damp winter evening to test drive a car the next time you go car shopping. In any car, bad driving circumstances tend to bring out the best - and the worst - in it. When the squalls arrive, the sunsets, and it's Friday night on the drive home, smart-suited saloons that feel excellent in the dry suddenly become flimsier.

Perhaps it's only after you reach the end of your voyage that you start to doubt your choice of vehicle. That obstructive window pillar; the eye-strain-inducing instrument lighting. The way you have to take your eyes off the road all the time to manipulate the tiny switchgear.

These are the distinctions between a high-quality vehicle and one that is mass-produced. However, perceived safety is about more than little annoyances. It all comes down to active ingredients like handling, acceleration, and braking, which are the factors that allow you to prevent an accident in the first place. An Audi excels in all of these areas.

Do you want to buy one?

Many people believe that Audi 80s are better built than BMW 3 series equivalents, and they are probably correct. Is there anything else we can say? You can receive a great second-hand choice from a private buyer. Don't hesitate if you locate a nice one at a reasonable price. Cars45 is one of the places to find great deals on this model.
