Bentley in Nigeria
Bentley is to luxury vehicles what Mount Everest is to mountains. Those with deep enough pockets to cover the company's six-figure price tags are rewarded to towering levels of refinement and distinction.
The company was founded in 1919 in England by Walter Owen Bentley. The first model, the quick "3-litre", debuted two years later. Larger cars followed, and success at Le Mans cemented the company’s reputation among British sports car enthusiasts.
During the 2000s, they were able to extend their model range and improve overall quality thanks to VW ownership. The Continental coupe was remodeled once more and rapidly became a sales success, inspiring the creation of a convertible version.
Soon after, the Continental Flying Spur, a four-door version of the Continental, appeared, followed in 2011 by the Mulsanne flagship sedan and the Bentayga SUV in 2016.

What is so special about this vehicle?
Modern Bentleys are powered by a series of elegant, yet muscular engines, as one would anticipate. The most powerful variants are powered by a turbocharged 12-cylinder engine that produces more than 600 horsepower, while a new V8 engine provides comparable performance in a somewhat more efficient manner. Regardless of engine, their classic qualities persist, since all models benefit from a high level of hand-finishing that is uncommon in current premium cars.
Let’s have a quick review on some of their car models
MODEL | ENGINE TYPE | TRANSMISSION | COLOUR |
Continental 2013 GT | V8 | Automatic | White |
Bentayga 2021 | V8 | Automatic | Off White |
Continental 2007 Mulliner R | V8 | Automatic | White |
Continental 2013 Supersports | V8 | Automatic | Red |
Continental 2010 | W12 | Automatic | Grey |
Continental 2013 GT
The cliché "less is more" does not always apply to the car brand. Rather, it appears that "too much is almost enough" is more applicable.
Given that the 2013 Continental GT weighs almost 5,000 pounds, the hefty W12 engine appears to be a wonderful compliment, with little criticism. Downsizing to a smaller V8 may appear to be a disadvantage, but it is not in this case. The new V8 feels like the engine the Continental GT deserved from the start, rather than a step-down.
Pros
- World-class interior craftsmanship.
- Strong engines.
- Standard all-wheel drive.
- Many customization options, and a simple driving experience.
Cons
- The rear seats are cramped.
- Hefty.
- Expensive.
Bentayga 2021
The Bentayga is unquestionably one of the most exclusive SUVs in the world, with its opulent interior, superb driving manners, and an eye-watering price tag. It's been around since the 2017 model year and is currently getting its first big redesign for 2021.
Inside, the Bentayga gets a much-needed facelift, including a new 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Another significant advancement for the Bentayga is the launch of a plug-in hybrid model. The 2021 Bentayga Hybrid, which can travel an estimated 17 miles on a fully charged battery, may appear out of place next to the booming turbocharged V8 and W12 engine options.
However, the new Bentayga is the first step towards its goal of electrifying its whole portfolio as plug-in hybrids or pure EVs by 2026.
Pros
- Stunning luxury and craftsmanship.
- The engine is powerful, and the acceleration is swift.
- Genuine off-road capabilities.
- Seating for up to seven people is available as an option.
Cons
- Optional equipment is too pricey.
- The standard rear bench seat is a little flat.
