Honda HR-V in Nigeria

The HR-V is Honda's smallest crossover, and it shares many mechanical components with the Fit hatchback. It has a load advantage because of its innovative second-row Magic Seat, and it's one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the market. But it isn't all roses. The HR-V features an irritating infotainment system that is slow to respond, and its driving dynamics aren't going to win anyone's heart. What you see is what you get: a tiny SUV that gets people and things from point A to point B.

Pros and cons of the Honda HR-V

Pros

  • Fuel-efficient engine.
  • Class-leading cargo room.
  • Handsome and well-made interior.

Cons

  • Poor acceleration.
  • Unrefined powertrain.
  • Frustrating infotainment system.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

A 141-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mates to either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission under the HR-small V's hood (CVT). An all-wheel drive is an option, although the front-wheel drive is standard. The four-cylinder engine isn't refined, with a roughness that causes vibrations in the interior, especially when driven aggressively.

When you step on the gas, the CVT makes good use of the engine's power, but when you step on the gas, the engine drones on at high rpm. As far as crossovers go, the HR-V gets the job done with little fuss, but also with little driver satisfaction. The gleaming pearl in an otherwise tarnished performance crown is its lively and quick handling. Better suspension damping could help with choppiness on bad roads and body roll in corners, but the HR-V settles into a more equal ride when driving on a flat road or freeway.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Honda HR-V’s cabin may not win hearts with its stylish, well-made interior, but it appears to be durable enough to survive the test of time. Although outward visibility is good and the passenger room is adequate, the lack of luxury features—even as options—means that you and your passengers will be less pampered. The front seats in the HR-V are sturdy but supportive enough for a long journey.

The back seats are firm as well but lack the bolstering found in the front seats, making them uncomfortable for adults on lengthy trips. The HR-cargo-hauling V's capability is unrivaled, making it useful outside its market. It would receive even more praise if it had extra storage areas inside its cabin and cargo compartment.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Bluetooth connectivity, a four-speaker radio system with an auxiliary input jack, a 5.0-inch LCD display, and one USB port are all standard on the HR-V LX. This amount of connectivity isn't enough in today's market, so the EX model adds two additional speakers, an extra USB port, and a 7.0-inch HondaLink touchscreen infotainment display.

Navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio are included on the top-of-the-line model. Unfortunately, the HondaLink technology is not simple, and it responds to inputs slowly. Another caveat: the HR-USB V's ports are difficult to reach while driving since they are hidden in a bin between the vehicle's floor and the bottom of the center console.

Do you want to get your own Honda HR-V?

The Honda HR-V manages to combine a small car's fuel efficiency with an SUV's adaptability and payload space. If you think this is the automobile for you, go to Cars45 to get the best deal. It is a safe space to buy both used and new cars.
