Honda Insight in Nigeria
Honda is taking a different approach with its Insight hybrid than many other businesses have with their gasoline-electric hybrids. Rather than highlighting its environmental credentials, Honda has designed the Insight to be a more typical sedan with a character comparable to that of the Honda Civic—with the exception that the Insight gets great mileage.
That's a good thing, because the Civic is one of the most popular compact vehicles, and the Insight shares the Civic's excellent handling and smooth ride. Its complicated hybrid drivetrain is mainly subtle and quiet. The fact that it appears to be more mature and upmarket than the Civic is the icing on the cake of a well-rounded and appealing package.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Honda Insight does a better job than most hybrids of balancing quick acceleration with frugal fuel consumption. It's on par with many conventionally powered compact cars (and significantly faster than the other hybrids we've tried). Its odd combination of a gas engine and electric motors is rarely apparent.
The system generates a total of 151 horsepower, allowing the Insight to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. At lower speeds, it can drive on its electric propulsion motor alone for about a mile but request more power, and the gasoline engine effortlessly kicks in. Under strong acceleration, the engine may become noisy, but the Insight's powertrain is otherwise quiet and refined.
The Insight is a vehicle that is extremely enjoyable to drive. It's quiet, comfy, and polished, and it drives with assurance. It's no surprise, given that it's fundamentally comparable to the Civic sedan, which also has these advantages. The Insight offers a well-controlled ride and decent handling, despite its lack of overt sportiness.
Interior, Infotainment, and Cargo
The interior amenities and finishes of the Honda Insight are a well-balanced mix of bargain-basement and upscale. It has a more upmarket feel than the Civic, and it compares favorably to other hybrid competitors. From fuel economy to speed limits, a customized digital gauge in the instrument panel may display a range of statistics. The front seats of the Insight are low, but there's plenty of room to spread out. However, the driver's seat lacks adjustable lumbar support, which is a disappointment. Two adults can sit comfortably in the back seats.
Although Honda's infotainment system has a fairly modern and understandable interface—and we're delighted it now has a true volume knob—some of the menus can get unnecessarily confusing, and a tuning knob remains lacking. The lower-trim Insight LX's 5.0-inch screen is a fairly basic affair, lacking even SiriusXM satellite radio, but it's straightforward to use. The 8.0-inch touchscreen on the EX and Touring variants has a lot more features.
The battery pack in the Insight is housed under the back seat, so it has little impact on cargo space; the rear seats still fold mostly flat to accommodate larger things. The center console on the Insight is quite functional and flexible, and it can accommodate a lot of stuff. In the cargo space, there are a few bins as well.
