Hyundai Genesis in Nigeria
If not the most distinguished badge, the Hyundai Genesis offers nearly everything you'd expect in a world-class luxury sedan. Regardless of public perception, the Genesis has established itself as a serious rival in the realm of high-end luxury.
The Genesis is now in its second generation, with the 2015 model being the first. It's more aristocratic and distinctive than its predecessor, and it's aimed at Mercedes-E-Class, Benz's BMW's 5 Series, and Cadillac's CTS models. The Genesis is loosely styled to resemble those competitors, with appealing characteristics from each. The Genesis, on the other hand, has a full-size footprint with a sleek fastback appearance.
The Genesis has a huge price advantage in this class right out of the gate, which further grows as you add extras. A V8 Genesis with all of the options costs roughly the same as entry-level midsize cars from large luxury brands. While the Genesis lacks the agility of other cars, it is unquestionably a lot of luxury sedans for the money.

Interior
Inside, the Hyundai Genesis has a clean and simple design motif. The shapes are generally linear, but the edges have been flattened for a more integrated aesthetic. The dashboard has a strong horizontal alignment and a rather flat face. The controls are neatly arranged in the center stack, and buttons are kept to a bare minimum, which is a nice change from the complicated interfaces found in some premium vehicles. The gauges are of the typical analog-style, making them simple to read.
The quality of the interior fit and finish is on par with that of luxury brands. The combination of wood and metal trim is elegant yet not ostentatious. Inside, the Genesis feels roomy, with plenty of legroom and wiggle room at the hips and elbows. Surprisingly, rear headroom isn't compromised in the name of style. Adults can easily climb in and out of the rear without having to bend their bodies.
However, trunk space is only 15.3 cubic feet on average. If the back seat folded down, this would be less of an issue, but all you get is a tiny pass-through for lengthy goods.
Driving Impressions
The Genesis was designed with a strong emphasis on passenger comfort. The ride quality is excellent. Noise from the road and the breeze is nearly non-existent. However, this does not imply that the Genesis is a giant softie. The electric-assist steering system is surprisingly responsive, and the movements are well-controlled. The V6 Genesis feels agile around town, thanks to its 400-pound weight savings over the V8 variant. The optional all-wheel-drive system adds only 165 pounds to the vehicle, thus handling is unaffected.
When you press the accelerator, the Genesis accelerates quickly despite its size. The 3.8 with all-wheel drive accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds, while the V8-powered 5.0 takes just 5.3 seconds. The V8's true benefit is its quiet, silky operation, even at full power. Shift paddles are standard on all models to provide you with more control over gearbox performance.
Do you want to get your own Hyundai Genesis?
The rear-wheel-drive Genesis competes on an equal basis with midsize, rear-wheel-drive luxury cars from Europe and America in terms of luxury and power. While the Genesis lags behind them in terms of handling and overall performance, it compensates with larger interior space and thousands in savings, two factors that customers value highly.
