2008 Hyundai Veracruz Review
The 2008 model is the largest and most expensive vehicle the brand has ever sold in North America and it might be its best yet. The vehicle goes up against impressive new models like the Toyota Highlander. By adding more standard equipment for this model, it is one of the brand’s vehicles that is not only meeting the bar, but it's also raising it.
This vehicle is a seven-passenger large crossover SUV that comes in three trim levels. They include the GLS, SE, and the Limited trim levels. Some features on the GLS trim are full power accessories, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, a tilt-telescoping steering column.
Others are a trip computer, cloth upholstery, rear climate controls, and a single CD/MP3 player with satellite radio.
The SE trim is quite similar to the GLS, with automatic headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, 18-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and others being the major upgrades.
The Limited trim includes all of the above and adds adjustable pedals, a power steering column, driver memory settings. It also adds a power passenger seat, rain-sensing wipers, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Available only on the Limited trim, the Navigation package adds a touchscreen navigation system and a 10-speaker Infinity Logic 7 surround-sound system. The only stand-alone option on all trim levels is Bluetooth.
All 2008 models are powered by a 3.8-liter V6 that generates 260 hp and 257 pound-ft of torque. The standard transmission is a six-speed automatic, while all trim levels can be equipped with either FWD or AWD.
Despite being one of the best in its class, this vehicle offers one of the best and prettiest interiors whether in base or the luxury-lined Limited. Its overall design is pretty and the quality of materials is superb, although the center stack is a little button-heavy.
2012 Hyundai Veracruz Review
The 2012 model is a seven-passenger crossover SUV that comes in GLS and Limited trim levels. Some standard features on the GLS trim are rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, foglights.
Other features are cruise control, an eight-way power driver seat, heated front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, satellite radio, and more.
This vehicle comes in either FWD or AWD and is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 260 horsepower and 257 pound-ft of torque. Its standard transmission is a six-speed automatic.
Each trim level comes standard with stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints. The vehicle is a buttoned-down boulevard and highway cruiser.
It is quiet and supple on well-paved roads. It handles predictably around corners despite the quick steering being noticeably unreactive. In conclusion, it drives well enough.
Although it looks a little simple outside, its handsome interior and solid materials quality camouflage a crossover built as a class value leader. The cabin has wood and faux-aluminum trim and accents, with the controls laid out in a clean minimalist fashion.
The comfort and space in this vehicle are high points. However, the third row offers less room than its competitors. When both rows of rear seats are folded down, it can carry up to 87 cubic feet of cargo.
