Jeep Commander in Nigeria
The Commander has more off-road capability than most drivers will ever require. It can transport up to seven people as well as a large amount of cargo just about anywhere it can fit. It's also remarkably sophisticated, despite its gruff, utilitarian appearance. The Commander has a surprising amount of grace and agility.
The Commander delivers functionality and a wide, airy cabin, as its slab-sided appearance suggests. The back seats are progressively stepped forward, like in a theater, to provide back-seat passengers a better perspective of the road. A pair of glass ceiling panels add to the sensation of openness, while the third row is best designated for children under the age of ten.
When the back two rows are folded down, the cargo floor is perfectly flat, allowing for 68.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Front-seat passengers will appreciate the spacious cabin, which is shared with the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Interior
The Jeep Commander's cockpit has a warm, cocoon-like feel to it. The seats are well-shaped and padded, and the steering wheel, which is a four-spoke design with cruise control controls at the thumb positions on higher-line versions, has a solid leather feel with exposed stitching. The Commander exudes a real sense of protection that immediately draws you in. On a chilly, windy day, it's the kind of vehicle you'd want to climb into.
At the same time, the Commander provides a feeling of openness. Passengers in the second seat will feel more airy thanks to overhead skylights. The Commander's raised roof allows stadium seating to be used; each row is higher than the one in front of it, allowing second-and third-row passengers enhanced forward visibility.
The occupants in the front seats have a commanding view of the road. There is plenty of head and legroom. The controls are all within easy reach and are properly arranged from the driver's seat. The materials are adequate, but there are more hard plastic surfaces than premium customers will appreciate.
Driving impression
For a seven-passenger SUV, the Jeep Commander is surprisingly responsive in town. It has more precise rack-and-pinion steering than many truck-based SUVs. In rush-hour traffic, the Commander reveals itself to be faster, more balanced, and a touch more favorable to aggressive driving than the normal truck-based SUV, and far more so than its exterior suggests.
Despite this, the Commander is tall and heavy, and it has a lot of body lean when braking and turning. When driving a Commander, you'll need to slow down more than usual during turns. Many car-based SUVs provide a more stable ride and handling experience than the Commander, as well as superior fuel economy.
Around town, the Commander's 4.7-liter V8 engine provides a good throttle response. The Commander is a very smooth and comfortable cruiser on the highway. Jeeps aren't the most aerodynamic vehicles on the road, but wind and tire noise seem to be indistinguishable from that of the ordinary SUV and even less than that of larger, square-bodied truck-based 4X4s.
Do you want to get yours?
For trips, camping, and tough winters, the Jeep Commander has a four-wheel-drive capacity. Seats that fold flat for large load capacity complement the vehicle's seven-passenger seating capacity. The Commander is adaptable enough to appeal to a wide spectrum of buyers, with a wide range of engines, choices, and costs.
