History of Creation
The Kia Optima was debuted in 2000 as a 2001 model and it is a mid-size car that has long been a choice for everyone. This car came in a variety of trim levels with a four- or six-cylinder engine. In 2002, the car added to its specs as it features a keyless entry with an upgraded V6 engine that supplies 178 hp.
In 2003, the 4-cylinder manual transmission was dropped for a redesigned body, however additional trim levels were added and the sound system was upgraded to the premium brand. 2004 model gained a 16-inch wheel size, as well as an updated V6 engine, but just minor trim updates. And in 2005, the leather interior became an option for the first time, and the turn signal lenses were changed.
The second generation of this car was introduced in 2005 and it came with fresh style and increased technological creations. Also, the features were as well upscale as they include; stability control, leather upholstery, front and side seat airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags amongst others.
In 2011, the third generation was introduced as the Optima was revamped. It came with a new Kia tiger-nose grille design which gave it an elegant and modern appearance. In 2013, the car had an infotainment system introduced to the system including navigation, push-start button, and a backup camera amongst others.
The Optima T debuted its fourth generation in 2016. This year was the sneak peek generation of the car as it featured sophistication, premium features, and enhanced safety features. This generation wasn’t in four trims like the rest but came in five trims, each coming with different three engines choices and power train.
The technological level of this generation was more advance than its predecessors. This is because it came with enhanced audio systems and four new UVO eServices, including geo-fencing, speed alert, curfew alert, and driving score.
Why Should You Buy The Kia Optima?
The Optima is one of the best cars you can ever get as it is fully endowed with amazing specs and mind-blowing features. If you doubt this car, here are a few reasons why you should opt for it taking the 2020 model for instance.
Performance: When it comes to performance, the Optima is unbeatable. The brake of the car gives the driver confidence as they are very efficient. This car can come to a complete stop from 60 miles per hour in just 119 feet, which is significantly better than most other vehicles in its class.
Comfort: This car is comfort in other words. The seats of the Optima are incredibly cozy which makes it easy for a long ride. The front seat comes with a lot of adjustment and they are well-bolstered for lateral support. The rare seats as well offer enormous room for passengers.
Mouthwatering interior design: Optima is one of the most affordable cars with a high-class interior. The higher you advance in the trim level ladder, the more luxurious things become. Although some of the interior trims are made of plastic yet it doesn’t look cheap. This is because the way the plastic pieces are painted and textured gives them a much higher-end appearance.
Cons
Lack of Legroom in the Rear: Legroom is limited in the back seat of the 2020 Kia Optima. The headspace is roughly the same as the rest of the class, but tall people will be uncomfortable. They'll either have to squeeze themselves in or shove themselves up in the front seat.
Weak Engine: The turbocharged engine of this car produces only 178 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, resulting in the sluggish performance of the car. The 1.6T produces a dull drive when paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is a much, with 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. So you should choose the trim with 2.0T for better driving performance.
