History of Creation
The Kia Picanto is a city car manufactured by Kia in South Korea in 2004. This car is as well called the Kia Morning and it was sold in all almost all markets in the world under various nameplates.
The first generation of Picanto was debuted in 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was built based on the platform of the Hyundai Getz which was a car with a five-door hatchback body style.
Picanto came with two engines; 1.0-litre, with 61 hp (45 kW) and 86 N⋅m (63 lb-ft), or a 1.1-liter, with 65 hp (48 kW) and 97 N⋅m (72 lb-ft), both with multipoint injection. For the second generator, this car was introduced in 2011 and was designed by Kia’s European design team in Frankfurt Germany. This came with two choices of gasoline engines as well; a 1.25-liter four-cylinder or a 1.0-liter three-cylinder.
The Picanto was sold worldwide as a 5-door hatchback while the European market had a 3-door variant Picanto. They are both of the same lengths but there are differences indoors, in the windows, bumpers, etc.
In 2016, the third generation was debuted at the 2017 Geneva motor show. It came well equipped with an option of three engines. The 1.0 liter Kappa II three-cylinder engine from the previous model, in both multi-point, injected, and turbocharged direct-injection versions and the 1.2 liter Kappa II four-cylinder engine from the previous model. Both 1.0-liter engines come standard with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 1.2-liter engine will have a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option.
