Land Rover LR4 in Nigeria

The LR4 is a true off-road vehicle with a brashly squared-off design and a distinctly British attitude. After leaving the pavement far behind, it is hardy and capable. It's also warm and inviting, with plenty of amenities. The LR4 has a higher seating capacity than other Land Rovers, with seven or five seats depending on the arrangement.

Lineup

The Land Rover LR4 is available in three trim levels: base, HSE, and HSE LUX. Two rows of seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensor, rearview camera, Bluetooth, side steps, sunroof, 11-speaker, 380-watt Meridian audio, and 19-inch alloy wheels are all standard on the LR4. Seating for up to seven people is available as an option.

Seven-passenger seating, power-folding mirrors, GPS with traffic warnings, and xenon headlights are included in the HSE trim level. With a center console cooler box, internal mood lighting, and 825-watt 17-speaker Meridian audio, the HSE LUX adds even more luxury.

Interior

The LR4's firmly upright, utilitarian interior, more than the exterior, tends to elicit either admiration or scorn. The cabin has plenty of comfortable, contemporary details, despite its conventional appearance.

The inside incorporates soft-touch materials, beautiful wood veneer trim, and a luxury leather-trimmed dashboard, all of which are carefully balanced between beauty and function. On the practical side, the control layout is simple and intuitive.

Seating in the first and second rows is upright but comfortable, even for taller people, whereas the third row (if fitted) is only suitable for little children. Second-row seats may be low in knee space or legroom for some passengers.

Front buckets with adjustable armrests provide excellent support. The driver benefits from a good driving stance and a good perspective of the road ahead by sitting upright. Land Rovers are known for their prominent hood corners, which are both a design feature and a practical benefit on hard off-road travels.

Driving impression

Because the Land Rover LR4 isn't a crossover, you might expect some concessions when driving on conventional roads. This SUV is bulkier and more truck-like than front-drive crossovers. It's one of the tallest SUVs on the road, with the driver sitting upfront.

The power is plenty for everyday driving, and the ride is enjoyable. Those advantages must be weighed against handling that can be clunky at times. The fully-independent suspension, combined with height-adjustable air springs, results in competent cornering, but body roll is obvious.

The LR4 is graceful on the road in its way, but it isn't nimble and leans in corners, even if it doesn't feel prone to tipping. The steering is vague, with just enough numbness to keep you from getting carried away. When braking forcefully, expect some nosedive, however, the pedal feel is fairly decent. Wind and traffic noise are kept at bay by ample insulation.

The ZF transmission not only shifts smoothly but also downshifts quickly when necessary. The transmission is controlled by a dial on the center console, and the driver can change gears manually using paddles on the steering wheel. When the ignition is turned off, the shift dial disappears into the console.

How to get yours?

The Land Rover LR4 is capable of going almost anywhere and is equipped with a plethora of luxury and convenience amenities. Seating for up to seven people is available. If you're looking for one, head over to Cars45 right away.
