Infiniti QX80 in Nigeria

The QX80 targets a specific niche: luxury three-row off-road competent family mobility. This large SUV can accommodate up to eight passengers (on leather seats, of course) and has lots of cargo capacity. A 5.6-liter V-8 engine produces ample power and a deep-throated rumble that appears to complement the QX80's muscular design. While the Infiniti competes with luxury SUVs like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, its plebeian roots—based on the Nissan Armada—show through far too much for it to be considered seriously as a premium vehicle.

Pros and cons of the vehicle

Pros

  • Bold exterior styling.
  • Gutsy V-8 engine.
  • Luxury-lined interior.

Cons

  • Expensive option packages.
  • Nissan Armada offers similar luxury for less money.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The 400-hp 5.6-liter V-8 engine and seven-speed automatic transmission propelled the three-ton Infiniti from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds in professional testing. While that is a good speed for its size, every other competitor we tested was faster. Still, the engine's smooth power delivery and quick throttle response will appeal to you. Unfortunately, with a transmission that hesitated to downshift, it was difficult to keep it moving on the freeway. Aside from that, it galloped through town gracefully, its exhaust tone roaring following heavy-handed accelerator applications.

The QX80's ride was highlighted by its comfort in experienced hands, especially when compared to the harsher rides of competitors from General Motors. The Infiniti, however, felt less athletic than the GLS450, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. The QX80's soft handling was comfortable around town and steady on the highway, while the alternatives featured more direct steering. If you're seeking a mega-luxury SUV with sharper handling, look elsewhere; but, the Infiniti's placid personality will appeal to those who prefer to be pampered.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

While the interior of the Infiniti QX80 is comfy and quiet, the design hasn't altered much since the QX56 debuted in 2011. Similarly, options that you would expect to find on premium liners (such as a panoramic sunroof, massaging seats, and a head-up display) are only available to competitors.

Despite this, the interior is roomy and well-built, with a conventional third row. While the QX80 can fit two adults in the back, numerous competitors have more space. Standard second-row captain's chairs can be replaced for a three-seat bench in the Infiniti.

Those who can't find enough space inside the QX80 to store their belongings should watch an episode of Hoarders. The Infiniti features a lot of interior cubby space, and it can fit the most luggage behind the third row among competitors of similar size.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The touchscreen infotainment system on the Infiniti QX80, dubbed InTouch, is simple to use yet unremarkable. While the screens are responsive and a mobile hotspot can be obtained for a reasonable price, every luxury competitor has a better UI and functionality. The QX80 is equipped with four normal USB connections as well as 12-volt outlets. A 120-volt outlet and another USB port are included in the Theater bundle. It also comes with a rear-seat entertainment system with two 8.0-inch screens built into the headrests of the front seats.

The flagship SUV from Infiniti is comfortable and elegant, but it's outperformed by younger, more modern competitors. Visit Cars45 to acquire yours at the best possible price.
