History of Creation

The K5 is a mid-size car produced by Kia in 2000 and it was marketed throughout the world in different nameplates. In Europe and Canada, this car was known as Kia Magnetis, and in South Korea, it was called the Kia K5.

This car comes in five generations. The first generation was debuted in South Korea, July 2000 and it was built based on the platform of the Kia- Hyundai. K5 was introduced in May 2001 and came with a 2.5L V6 engine and a choice of an automatic or manual transmission.

Later in the year, an update was made as the car took a new 2.7L engine, 4-speed automatic. The manual transmission was dropped and there were features like alloys wheels and leather interior amongst others.

The second generation of this car was known as the Kia Magentis globally. However, in the U.S, Malaysia, and South Korea, it was known as the Kia Lotze. It comes with a 2.4 liters inline-four engine, five-speed sportmatic automatic, or five-speed manual transmission.

The third generation of this car took a complete redesign and it was named the K5 in China and South Korea markets. It was introduced to the world in 2012 at the New York auto show. It came with a much sleeker and sportier profile designed by Kia chief Peter Schreyer. The grille was called the Tiger nose, also designed by this same car designer.

This generation car came with a GDI 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine mated with either a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. However, this model came in base LX, upscale EX, and sporty SX model. Among the feature of the car are, electronic stability controls, iPod creativity, Bluetooth phone, and cooled glove box.

In 2016, the fourth generation car was introduced as it offers new features and enhancements. The car is powered by a Theta II 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The fifth-generation came in after several facelifts and the introduction of a hybrid version of the car in 2016. The design of the car is amazing and unique as it features Z-shaped running lights, a chrome strip that runs through the window line and becomes more obvious at the C pillar. It was however powered with the base 4-cylinder turbo 1.6-liter engine producing 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Why Should You Get The Kia K5?

Considering the 2021 K5, these are the reason you should get this car;

Technologically Advanced Interior: K5 is a comfortable car that has the best rear legroom that allows you to stretch while traveling. The drivers have access to cutting-edge technology, Wireless Apple Car Play, and Android Auto smartphone connectivity which are included on all models.

All-Wheel Drive: Kia previously produced front-wheel-drive vehicles. The new Kia K5 does, however, come with an AWD system. This is significant for drivers who require increased traction in the winter. When the snow begins to fall, the AWD system will attempt to boost grip automatically.

Safety: Although it has not been rated by the NHTSA safety rating, however, it comes with innovative safety technology. A collision is less likely to occur with standard forward-collision braking that includes built-in bike and pedestrian detection. While backing up, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist is available that can intervene to avoid an accident. Driver attention monitoring and active lane control are also standard.

Cons

Absence of Hybrid Power train Option: This car has a very good fuel economy; however, it would have been much better if the hybrid powertrain is efficient. Many of the K5's competitors have hybrid models that get at least 40 mpg combined. But this 2021 K5 doesn’t possess one yet.

Reliability: Kia has a recent history of producing dependable automobiles. The previous Kia Optima was one of America's most dependable midsize cars. The K5, on the other hand, is a completely new model. Long-term dependability is impossible to avoid with this vehicle.

Comfort: In as much as it comes with nice and amazing comfort features, the sloping roofline is an issue. The sloping roofline might not allow people to easily go in and out of the car.
