BMW G Series in Nigeria

The BMW G20 (sedan version) and BMW G21 (wagon variant, branded as 'Touring') compact executive automobiles are part of the BMW 3 Series' seventh generation. The G20/G21 has been in production since mid-October 2018nand is generally referred to as the G20 altogether.

One of the first vehicles in the range, the M340i, went on sale in the spring of 2019, with the 330e plug-in hybrid variant following in 2020. For the G20 generation, the 3 Series Gran Turismo fastback body design was dropped.

Development and launch of the BMW G Series

The G20 3 Series incorporates more high-strength steel and aluminum as it is built on Cluster Architecture. The G20 is equipped with a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension with hydraulic damping for improved impact absorption.

Because the G20 has a flat and covered underbody, the 320d's drag coefficient is decreased from 0.26 Cd to 0.23 Cd. The G20 is 55 kg (121 lb) lighter, 85 mm (3.3 in) long, and 16 mm (0.6 in) wider than its predecessor. [17] The car maintains a 50:50 weight distribution while increasing body stiffness by 50%. The boot capacity is 480 liters, which is the same as the F30 (17 cu ft).

The windshield is made of double-glazed acoustic glass, and the A-pillars are thicker. The handbrake is now controlled by an electrical system rather than a manual lever. Engine coasting is now available in both Eco Pro and Comfort modes, and engine particulate filters are standard on both petrol and diesel variants.

Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (xDrive) versions of the 320d, 320i, 330d, 330i, and M340i are available.

Equipment

The G20 comes in four different packages: Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport.

Full LED lighting and taillights, automated climate control, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers, 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, and driver assistance systems such as lane departure warning and collision warning with braking intervention are all standard features.

iDrive 6.0 with an 8.8-inch display and a hybrid instrument cluster called "Live Cockpit Plus" are standard on all models (excluding those with the plug-in hybrid drivetrain). The system may be upgraded to iDrive 7.0, which has a 10.25-inch display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster called "Live Cockpit Professional," which comes standard on plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The Live Cockpit Plus system was upgraded to the same iDrive 7.0 system as the Live Cockpit Professional system starting in mid-2020, with the instrument cluster reverting to classic analog gauges and the 8.8-inch display remaining the same as the iDrive 6.0-based system. The navigation is start-stopped by the engine start-stop system to prevent unnecessary engine shutdowns.
