Which One to Buy

The SE is the greatest bargain in the series now that it comes standard with the new Sync 3 infotainment system. A turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 4G LTE onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and heated front seats are all standard. The top two four-cylinder engines in the Escape are turbocharged, refined, and work nicely with the six-speed automated transmissions that come standard. The 2.0-liter engine is surprisingly rapid, but the 1.5-liter is slow. While there is some throttle lag while the driver waits for the turbocharger to kick in, this isn't an issue with the 2.0-liter engine. The 2.0-litre also seems more powerful while accelerating, with less engine complaint and a lot more oomph on tap for passing maneuvers and complex highway-merging scenarios, according to our tests.

The Escape strikes a finer mix between a comfortable ride and a supple feel than the competitive Honda CR-V, making it one of the better-handling small SUVs. The steering is light but not sluggish, and it is very precise. The Escape, on the other hand, had the worst-in-class braking performance in a 70-to-zero-mph braking test, taking 184 feet to come to a halt.

Interior

The Ford Escape has an interior for any budget, ranging from cheap and lacking in frills to slightly opulent and brimming with extras. The top-of-the-line Titanium model comes with leather-trimmed seats, metallic trim, and power-operated front seats with driver memory settings.
